MONEY · PRACTICAL ACCESS

Banking, Bitcoin and KYC after a move

Start with the jobs your money needs to do: receive income, pay rent, hold a reserve and move funds when needed. One app rarely answers every question.

Paraguayan banking

Use the Banco Central del Paraguay’s supervised-entity register to check the institution. Then ask that bank for its current foreign-resident onboarding requirements, accepted evidence of income, address documents, transfer fees and account restrictions. A cédula helps identify you; it does not require a bank to approve your account.

Monflo before and after a move

Monflo describes an account for EUR and crypto. Its FAQ checked on 11 October 2026 currently limits individual onboarding to people residing in the Netherlands with a Dutch IBAN and iDIN verification. If you are moving, ask how a change of residence affects an existing account and whether you remain eligible. Planned expansion is not the same as availability today.

Xapo

Xapo’s membership information describes identity and compliance checks, including government-issued identification and proof of address. Check country eligibility, the actual account agreement, costs and the distinction between cash and Bitcoin balances before applying. This is a provider to investigate, not a promised account opening through Ties.

Meru and UGLYCASH

Meru’s product information and UGLYCASH’s legal pages are starting points for comparing their services. Establish which legal entity serves you, whether a balance is bank money, a token or another claim, and what withdrawal and dispute routes exist. Country-specific features and terms must be checked directly; neither name is a blanket substitute for a local bank.

Bybit and your true circumstances

Bybit publishes identity-verification and restricted-jurisdiction policies. A new cédula does not give permission to misstate citizenship, address or actual residence. Confirm the applicable platform entity, accepted documents and eligibility with the provider. Do not use a VPN or borrowed identity to bypass restrictions.

Self-custody, exchange custody and gold

These involve different risks and practical demands. Record who controls access, how recovery works, liquidity, fees and what happens if a provider is unavailable. Never give Ties or any purported helper your recovery phrase. We can organise your questions; a conversation is not a recommendation to buy a particular asset.

Make a small operational checklist

Before relying on a service, verify access in your own name, two-factor authentication, a recovery plan, a workable withdrawal route and an alternative way to pay essential bills. Do not move your entire reserve because a screenshot or referral sounds convincing.

Build an access map before changing countries

Make a private list of the accounts you actually use, their purpose, the institution or contracting entity and the recovery route. Add the phone number and address information that must remain accurate. Ask providers about a move before your old contact arrangements disappear. Keep official replies and dates. Do not assume that being able to log in means your new circumstances are approved. This exercise is about dependable access to ordinary life, not accumulating the largest possible collection of apps.

Compare a complete transfer

For a realistic amount you might send, ask what leaves the sending account and what arrives at the destination. Record the currency conversion, transfer and intermediary charges, timing and any limit or evidence requirement. An attractive headline fee may describe only one part of the route. When appropriate, a small lawful test can show the process, but it cannot establish that every future transfer will be accepted. Keep the receipt and reconcile the amount received.

Plan for the week an account is unavailable

Consider what happens if a phone is lost, an account needs additional checks or a card does not work where you are staying. Identify how you would pay for ordinary essentials and contact the provider through its official channel. A second route can also have dependencies: the same phone, email account or intermediary. Record those connections. Diversifying the names on your screen is less useful than understanding how access would actually be restored.

Keep a dated comparison instead of a permanent ranking

Providers change their terms and may serve different customers through different entities. Use columns for your use case, current eligibility, evidence required, full costs, access/recovery and unanswered questions. Mark a missing answer as missing. Do not rank a bank, exchange, payment app, Bitcoin balance and stored gold as if they were the same product. The right comparison starts with the job you need done and ends with a provider-confirmed answer for your circumstances.
