A life outdoors: diving, wind, mountains and the open road

Adventure is part of the life I want to build: learning something real, spending time outside and seeing a place from a different angle. My diving photographs show that side of my travels. The wider conversation includes freediving, surfing, skiing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, paragliding, skydiving and motorcycle travel.

More than collecting destinations

A country can look very different from the water, a mountain or the road between towns. I like travel that gives you something to do and something to learn. An activity can become the centre of a trip, or simply one good day within it. You do not need to turn every interest into a competition. There is room for practice, ordinary enjoyment and taking your time.

Diving: the whole day matters

My photographs include equipment preparation, boats, reefs and the quieter moments around a dive. That is a fuller picture than a single underwater portrait. Learning, listening and being comfortable with the group matter as much as getting a memorable photograph. I enjoy the change of perspective that comes with being underwater, and the conversations and routines around it. I hold a PADI Divemaster qualification from Koh Tao. Becoming an instructor and eventually an MSDT is a future ambition. Any professional assistance is agreed with the dive centre and depends on its requirements and my current professional status.

Freediving: a different relationship with the water

Freediving belongs in this conversation alongside scuba diving, but it is its own discipline with its own training. What interests me is attention, calm and learning to move through an unfamiliar environment. A photograph cannot show someone’s preparation or establish what is appropriate for another person. If you want to explore it, the starting point is a qualified school and an honest discussion of your experience, rather than copying something you saw online.

Surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing

Waves and wind make an activity depend on the place and the day. These are interests we can build into a wider travel conversation: do you want an introductory lesson, time to practise, or a destination where the sport shapes your routine? Those are different trips. The practical questions include suitable local instruction, transport, equipment, the season and enough flexibility for conditions to change. Being interested in all three does not mean they share the same skills or that I teach them.

Skiing and time in the mountains

Mountain travel offers another rhythm: an active day, a different landscape and time away from the usual surroundings. Skiing can mean a first lesson, a week with friends or a regular part of your year. Your level, preferred pace and budget should shape the plan. Accommodation, transport, lessons, equipment and the actual days you can spend there often matter more than a dramatic destination photo. Specialist mountain activities belong with appropriately qualified local professionals.

Paragliding and skydiving

Seeing a landscape from the air is an appealing idea, but paragliding and parachute jumping are separate activities with different providers and requirements. A tandem experience is also different from training towards independent participation. If either is part of a proposed trip, we first need a suitable operator, eligibility, clear inclusions and room for weather changes. I can discuss how an activity fits your travel goals; I do not present myself as a flight instructor or guarantee that a flight or jump will take place.

Motorcycles: the journey between places

Motorcycle travel brings the road itself into the experience. A route can create room for small towns, changing landscapes and spontaneous stops. It also needs realistic planning: your licence and experience, the vehicle, the rental agreement, insurance, road conditions, distances and a workable alternative if plans change. The question is not how many kilometres look impressive. It is whether the route fits your ability, time and reasons for travelling.

Make room for the life you actually want

These interests connect to my broader work on life direction. Where would you enjoy an ordinary month? What would you like to learn? Do you want an active coastal season, a mountain trip or a settled base with occasional adventures? An activity can help clarify what freedom means to you in practice. It does not have to become your job, and a country that suits one holiday is not automatically the right place to live.

What we can discuss together

Bring your interests, current experience, available dates, countries you are considering and the budget you want to work within. We can organise the options, decide what deserves further research and identify which questions belong with local specialists. Any booking, instruction, equipment hire or third-party introduction needs a separately agreed scope. These activities are not automatically included in a Paraguay Immersion or another service. Start with a strategy conversation if you want to connect travel and adventure to a wider life plan.

A dive trip around learning, not a rushed checklist

Koh Tao in Thailand and Curaçao are places we can discuss for a trip built around learning to dive. Start with what you want from the experience: an introductory course, returning to diving or simply time around the water. A centre and qualified instructor handle course admission, teaching and certification. We agree my accompaniment separately. Sairee Cottage is a centre you can ask about in Koh Tao; naming it does not mean a course, partnership or place is confirmed. Leave room in the itinerary for preparation, the actual course schedule and a change of plans. Ask the centre to confirm its requirements before booking a wider trip around assumptions.

Bolivia by motorcycle, with room to change the route

My Bolivia travel connects Santa Cruz and Samaipata with Cochabamba, Sucre, Potosí, Uyuni and Oruro. That personal route is a starting point for a conversation, not a timetable every rider should follow. Choose a section that fits your experience and available days. Before agreeing a motorcycle trip, identify who supplies the bike, what the rental covers, your permitted use, the daily plan and what happens after a breakdown or a missed stop. An accompanied itinerary and a written route brief are different services. We can also discuss travelling by another vehicle when that better fits your comfort and purpose.

An island or city trip can have its own purpose

Terceira and São Miguel in the Azores, Cyprus, Chalkidiki, Curaçao, Amsterdam and the Netherlands and Koh Tao are places I know and would like to explore with people. They need different plans. You might want slow island days, a familiar city, a coastal routine or a course at the centre of the visit. Tell me what you want to feel and understand by the end, rather than only giving me a list of attractions. Dates, local arrangements and my availability determine what we can actually agree. Travel together is proposed individually; this list is not a schedule of guaranteed departures.

Write the split between shared and independent time

A good trip leaves enough space for both. Agree which days or activities we do together, when you explore independently and how changes are discussed. Record transport, accommodation, provider fees and my agreed work separately so the total is understandable. If you are travelling with a partner or friends, include their pace and interests in the brief. A trip that works for one enthusiastic rider or diver may not suit the whole group. You can request a written itinerary first, then decide whether accompaniment is useful. The proposal should make the actual experience easier to picture before you commit.

A Bolivia route starts with your experience

Santa Cruz and Samaipata can form a shorter visit. A wider journey through Cochabamba, Sucre, Potosí, Uyuni and Oruro calls for more time and different preparation. Tell me your riding experience, whether you want to ride or travel by another vehicle, the distances you enjoy and how much rest you want. We can discuss a route based on my experience of Bolivia, then confirm the vehicle, conditions and responsibilities for the actual dates.

Make a dive trip about learning and enjoyment

Koh Tao and Curaçao are places we can discuss for a trip built around diving. If you are beginning Open Water, give the course enough space rather than treating it as an activity squeezed between travel days. The qualified centre assesses course arrangements and provides the instructor. I hold a PADI Divemaster qualification; accompaniment or assistance is agreed with the centre. Freediving is a separate discipline with its own appropriate provider. The course fee, equipment and my travel role should be clear before you commit.

Put your question into a practical next step.

Describe what you are trying to decide. We agree the appropriate scope and price before you commit. A question does not create a booking or payment obligation.
