Paraguay supermarkets and butchers: compare an ordinary shopping basket

Find the shops that work for your routine through dated product comparisons, not a universal best-supermarket claim.

Start with the basket you actually use

Choose a small set of regular purchases: the same meat cut and weight, eggs, vegetables, fruit and household essentials. Include transport or delivery where it changes the decision. Prices and stock depend on branch, date and product. Do not compare a promotional imported cut in one store with an ordinary local cut in another and call the result a national cost-of-living verdict.

Use named stores as places to check

Superseis and Casa Rica have public product catalogues that can help prepare a comparison. A catalogue is evidence of a listing, not proof of stock at every branch or a food-safety ranking. Add the local butcher or market you can realistically reach, then check the product itself. I have not completed a current identical-basket survey establishing a cheapest or safest winner. Keep that limitation beside any comparison.

Price, sourcing and service are separate columns

Ask about origin, feeding claims, traceability and the way a product is stored. Also compare opening times, payment methods, delivery area and how reliably your regular items are available. A shop with a wider imported range may suit a particular household without being best for everyone. A small butcher may answer sourcing questions well, but the answer still needs evidence rather than automatic trust.

Turn shopping into useful relocation research

Try a normal shopping trip during an exploratory visit. Notice the time, language, choices and practical effort, not only the receipt. Keep the results dated and update them when your habits change. I can help orient a visit around those everyday questions. Future product reviews should report what was actually checked and avoid presenting advertising, a single anecdote or an old price as a universal recommendation.
