PREPARATION · RELOCATION

From a big idea to a feasible moving plan

You don't need to have all the answers to get started. It does help to ask the right questions in the right order.

Put the parts together

A move affects your work, your relationships, your finances and your daily environment. Put these parts together before making individual decisions.

Plan in steps

Distinguish between orienting, preparing and executing. Record what information you need per phase and with whom you check it.

A plan keeps moving

New information may change your choice. Create space to reconsider a decision. The goal is a plan that fits your life.

Create a file with three parts

Separate departure, accommodation procedure and arrival. Note the required information for each section, the responsible party and the next action. Do not put sensitive documents in a shared folder without first agreeing who will have access and why.

A schedule with dependencies

Some steps can be taken simultaneously, others wait for documents or appointments. Make those dependencies visible before you finalize tickets or a move. A desired departure date is a plan goal; a confirmed appointment or government decision is something else.

A budget that contains more than the package amount

Create separate entries for guidance, official costs, translations, travel, temporary accommodation and costs in your current country of residence. Ask what happens if an additional appointment or document is needed. Also take into account a period in which costs continue in two places.

Right of residence is not an answer to every tax question

Residence status, registration and tax residence each have their own assessment. Have the consequences for income, business, assets and insurance examined based on your personal facts. A general statement about a country is insufficient for this.

Choose the right form of help

A 1-on-1 conversation may be appropriate for one defined question. A written audit is useful for several related choices. Execution of a residence file and guidance on location are separate assignments with their own responsibilities.

Make a plan you can maintain

Use a simple overview with four columns: what needs to happen, who is responsible, which step comes first and when you will review progress. Place confirmed arrangements beside plans that remain uncertain. A moving date may depend on work, accommodation, documents or housing availability. Leave room for temporary accommodation and an alternative if something shifts. I can help clarify the sequence and questions so you give a local professional a focused assignment. Update the overview when an answer arrives. Your plan then stays useful without repeatedly searching through every message and loose note.

Put your question into a practical next step.

Describe what you are trying to decide. We agree the appropriate scope and price before you commit. A question does not create a booking or payment obligation.
