The residence route
Visitor, migrant and resident visas are distinct. Identify the correct work, family, investment or other basis.
Visitor, migrant and resident are different stages
Identify the visa matching your actual activity and check whether it can lead to Resident status. A digital-nomad, work, family or investment label should not be treated as an interchangeable path. Ask which activity is permitted, how dependants are covered and which absences interrupt the route. Record your visa’s own conditions and the later foreigner-identification step; a cédula does not replace the underlying visa.
Citizenship and what still needs checking
Naturalisation domicile is counted from the Resident visa, not automatically from an earlier migrant visa; knowledge requirements and exceptions apply.
The naturalisation clock is linked to the Resident visa
Cancillería states that the qualifying domicile count starts with issuance of the Resident visa. Do not add every earlier visit or migrant-visa year to that count without a legal basis. The applicable period depends on circumstances, and knowledge examinations have specified exceptions. Keep the foreigner ID valid during the process and verify the current nationality law, documentary evidence and any language or knowledge requirements for your case.
